Struggles with Self-Forgiveness

Do you have a hard time forgiving yourself for past and present mistakes and sins? I sure do! Here's something I have found that helps me with this struggle.
When I consider what the Bible tells us God does with our sins, I find it hard to accept my unwillingness to forgive myself. So, what does God tell us He does with our sins?
In an amazing example of the width, depth and magnitude of God's love, He tells us He does four things with our sins, when we genuinely profess them to Him and repent.
He separates us from our sin:
Psalm 103:12 “As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.”
He casts them into the depths of the sea:
Micah 7:19 “You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea.”
He covers them up:
Psalm 32:1 “Blessed is the one whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.”
4. He remembers them no more:
Hebrews 8:12 (quoting Jeremiah 31:34) “Their sins and lawless deeds I will remember no more.”
Consider just how serious God is about forgiving and forgetting our sins when we are in an intimate, devout relationship with Jesus and find blessed peace in being able to forgive yourself!

In Sodom and Gomorrah Lot and his wife were told not to look back, but his wife did. You know what happened. As for our sins we call on the name of the Lord and believe, are forgiven through Jesus sacrifice for us. So we are also not to look back. Our slate is clean.
